Red Onion Pickles
Sweet, tangy, crisp, and addictive pickled red onions that are perfect on everything. Bold color, bold flavor, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 2.000 red onions
- 1.000 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1.000 cup water
- 2.000 tbsp sugar
- 1.000 tbsp salt
- 1.000 tsp black peppercorns
- 1.000 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2.000 garlic cloves
- 1.000 bay leaf
Instructions
- Thinly slice red onions and pack them into a clean jar.
- In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, peppercorns, red pepper flakes, garlic, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar and salt dissolve.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the warm brine over the onions, pressing down to submerge.
- Let cool to room temperature.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
